Christmas in the Woods

We blinked and it was December again, the courtyard was filling with wonderfully smelling Spruce and Fir trees, chesnuts were roasting and cider was mulling. It was wonderful to see the woods full of people, families picking christmas trees, singing carols and wrapping up warm and snuggling together around the fire. It almost felt (dare I say it…) normal. Thank you to everyone who came and enjoyed the festive fayre with us this year, I hope you all had a wonderful christmas.

We were fed well this year with Cashew Catering’s pizzas, Sussex Coffee Trucks fuelled us all, we had roasted chestnuts and mulled cider, and the wonderful Beacon Down joined us for a few days, adding some sparkling festiveness to our glasses.

The hometeam this year did an amazing job, with our main chestnut salesman, Daryl, shouting away, Bea and her group of angels, Pippa, Ruby and Xandi, singing carols and generally providing all the festive joy you could ever need! Flo woman-ed the craft corner, selling a range of woodland products, all made by the home team. Jake and Nick were down in the christmas tree field again this year, helping people pick out the perfect tree for their homes. We had a range of wonderful visiting crafts people this year, and a huge selection of products by the wider Wilderness Wood community, friday club (our home-educated group) did a great job leading up to the fayre this year, making all manner of wonderful things, which all went down a storm! A particular shout out to the infamous Woodians, made by our one and only Pippa, with her gang of helpers!

I don’t know about father christmas but here at Wilderness Wood, christmas wouldn’t be possible without Emily and Dan.

Thanks to everyone who joined us and for those who only come once a year to get your tree, we’ll see you next year, or hopefully sooner!
