Honouring a Cedar Tree

A few weeks ago, we were sadened to discover that one of the young cedar trees near the big swing had had its bark peeled off. The bark of a tree is like the skin of a person - it can cope with a small injury, but removing the bark, kills the tree.

Member, Emma, reached out to Emily wanting to doing something positive to honour the tree. Jake and Flo felled the tree to make it safe and the rest of the bark was then removed, and used to create beautiful baskets and boats, which were sailed down the stream.

Please look out for the next edition of Wild Times for a full article about the workshop. Many thanks to all involved in making what could have been a really sad event a celebration of our trees and woodland.
