Young Orchardists: a weekly after-school club
Autumn is coming and we're starting a new evening forest school at Wilderness Wood - this time in the orchard.
Orchards are one of the most biodiverse habitats in the UK, an ancient part of our heritage and community gathering spaces; so why shouldn't children be at the heart of them?
Over our first 5 sessions we will see in the harvest, learn to prune and plant trees, enjoy fruit over the fire, celebrate Samhain, and see the orchard go to sleep for winter - while having lots and lots of fun!
Combining practical orchard skills and community celebration with story, creativity, song, cooking and brush craft we will enjoy all that Forest School has to offer nestled among our beautiful fruit trees.
Open to ages 6-11 (yrs2-6), this is a drop-off space for children confident to be with a new group of friends in the outdoors as the months get colder.
Dates: 4pm-5:30pm
Tuesdays 15th and 22nd of September (break on the 29th Sept)
Tuesdays 6th, 13th and 20th of October
Saturday 24th Oct 12-2pm family end of term celebration picnic!
Cost: introductory offer!
Every child has the right to connect with nature. Financial injustice is baked into the fabric of our economy, and those who stand to gain the most from nature are often systemically deprived of it.
To allow access to those who often struggle with the cost to access forest school activities, places are available on a sliding scale at 3 price points. (adapted from the Visionaries Sliding Scale framework, rooted in Economic Justice work created by Alexis J. Cunningfolk)
➤ Pay it Forward : £25 (£150) (pays for your child & pays towards a place for those less financially privileged)
➤ Standard : £15 (£90) (reflects the true cost of the session at a reasonable rate)
➤ Bursary : £5 (£30) (limited places available but no questions asked just mention in your RSVP email)
Please be mindful that buying cheaper places when you can afford a higher price means limiting access to those who truly need it. Thanks for your help promoting economic justice!
If the lower tier is still prohibitive, I can discuss extended payment plans, exchanges and other solutions - just get in touch.
