A hands-on introduction to the timeless craft of timber framing in the beautiful setting of Wilderness Wood.
You will work with experienced-framer, Daryl Haines and designer-builder, Daniel Morrish on the creation of a new timber-frame for a cabin at Wilderness Wood, working with timber grown in the woods and milled on-site. During the four days, you will learn how to:
identify the appropriate timber and methods for a structure
use and look after specialist framing tools
cut big mortice-and-tenon joints
assemble the frames
Cost: £495 including vegetarian lunches and a meal together on the Thursday night and a talk about the history of timber framing in the UK by John Russell, leading expert.
Tools provided but you are welcome to bring your own if you have any.
Extras: camping pitch, £10 per night, shepherd’s hut, £50 per night, Dumbledore or Yaffle cabin, £500 for Tues to Fri.
