Learn how to use the traditional techniques, tools and materials of timber framing to make a beautiful timber building - like the ones you see all around Wilderness Wood! Join Dan and Daryl, designer-builders, for a hands-on introduction to the timeless craft of timber framing through the creation of a new timber frame for a cabin at Wilderness Wood, working with timber grown in the woods and milled on-site.
During the four days, you will learn how to:
identify the appropriate timber and methods for a structure
use and look after specialist framing tools
cut big mortice-and-tenon joints
assemble the frames
Cost: £495 including vegetarian lunches and a meal together on the Thursday night and a talk about the history of timber framing in the UK by John Russell, leading expert. (5% members discount)
Tools provided but you are welcome to bring your own if you have any.
Extras: camping pitch, £10 per night, shepherd’s hut, £50 per night, Dumbledore or Yaffle cabin, £500 for Tues to Fri.
