Dot Winter Women's Circle February

Wards: This circle will be exploring the myth of Persephone, and what she stirs in us, allowing us introspection for our parts.

Persephone was the daughter of Demeter, the goddess of agriculture and fertility and was ‘abducted’ by Hades, the god of the underworld. Devastated by the loss of her daughter, Demeter wandered the earth in sorrow, neglecting her duties and causing crops to wither, leading to famine and suffering.

Desperate to restore balance, Zeus ordered Hades to return Persephone to her mother. However, before leaving the underworld, Persephone was tricked into eating a few pomegranate seeds—a binding act that ensured she would have to return to Hades for part of each year. As a compromise, it was decided that Persephone would spend part of the year with her mother on Earth and the remaining months in the underworld as Hades' queen.

We will be working with protection techniques as magical barriers like apotropaic symbols, sigils, and herbs. Working with primrose as a medicine to heal feelings of rejection, anxiety and paving the way to new beginnings.

Working with the primrose medicine to connect deeper with the beginnings of spring energy and pave the way for the theme of our circle: wards.

This circle will open awareness to the state of flight as survival and offer contemplation on completing cycles.

Dot’s circles inculde shares, intention, meditation, ritual and craft. We will be working with clay.
