Lucy McAskie - Eat Well, Move Well
I’m Lucy and I’ve recently started offering small group fitness sessions at the wood.
I love to move, I love the outdoors and I love to feel fit. I come to Wilderness Wood as a home educator, but I’m also a PT and Nutritional Therapist.
I know it's essential to do strength and conditioning at my stage of life, but I struggle with gym environments and quickly get bored of resistance training at home.
I’ve recently found joy through taking my training outdoors, and now I’m loving sharing that with others.
In a typical session we warm up with a walk/jog, mobilise our joints, and prepare our minds and bodies for the harder work.
The core of the session is a full body strength & conditioning circuit, where we use our own bodyweight & resistance bands to hit our individual preferred level of challenge.
We then enjoy a relaxing stretch and the view of the trees from the ground - way more pleasant than gazing at the ceiling of a gym.
The sessions suit a mix of fitness levels and exercise experience and I can offer modifications if you find anything too difficult or if you want more challenge.
Price-wise for Wilderness Wood members it's £10 paid in advance, or £12 on the day. Non members pay £13/15.
The current (pilot) session is Thursday 10.45-11.45am in term time, and I’d like to do more! Do let me or the home team know if there’s a few of you who would like a class on a different day/time, and I’ll see what I can do.
